Professional teeth whitening services at Heritage Dental Centre can be a safe and effective way of removing surface stains and lightening the colour of your teeth.
The whitening solution we use contains active ingredients such as hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide. The active bleaching agent penetrates the enamel and dentin, and releases oxygen free radicals, which break down the stains inside the tooth structure, effectively lightening the tooth colour.
Our dentists are able to offer a host of different teeth whitening procedures and products for our patients based on their specific needs and goals, including take-home whitening treatments and in-office treatments.

At-Home Whitening
For patients who prefer the convenience of whitening at home, we offer custom take-home whitening kits. These treatments allow you to gradually brighten your smile on your own schedule, with results that typically last a few weeks.
Take-home whitening can be an excellent choice if you’re looking for a more flexible option, want to touch up in-office results, or simply prefer whitening in the comfort of your own home.
Zoom Teeth Whitening
We also provide in-office whitening using the Zoom Teeth Whitening system, designed for faster and more noticeable results.
Because the procedure is supervised by a dentist, stronger whitening agents can be safely used to lift deeper stains and brighten your smile in a single visit. This makes in-office whitening an excellent option if you’re looking for quick, effective results compared to the gradual pace of take-home treatments.
How Take-Home Treatment Works
With take-home teeth whitening, your treatment begins with a custom-made tray that is created from impressions of your teeth to ensure a precise and comfortable fit. At your next visit, you’ll receive your trays along with the whitening gel and instructions.
To whiten, you’ll place the gel into the trays and wear them for about one to two hours each day. Because whitening treatments can sometimes increase sensitivity or affect tooth strength, we generally recommend waiting until at least age 16 before beginning this type of treatment.
The Results
Typically, you'll see results within 10 to 14 days, with a significant change in tooth colour generally occurring in four to six weeks.
Occasionally, the effectiveness of tooth whitening may be minimal if teeth are seriously stained.
In these instances, an alternative treatment to consider may be dental crowns or veneers.
